Larne Times and Weekly Telegraph, Saturday October 17, 1914. The text reads: "A group of members of the North Irish Horse who are preparing for the fray at the show grounds, Londonderry. Recruited from all parts of Ulster, Belfast being well represented, they are a sturdy collection of young men, who have entered into their arduous training with great zeal and are rapidly becoming proficient in all the rudiments of musketry and horsemanship. The photo was taken by one of the company, Trooper J.R. Cairns, of Castlefin." One man has been identified in this group - William Buchanan (third image, fourth from left in third row back).
